I had the opportunity to work with Mathew Wilton, Lexi Zhao, Michael Battista, and Michael Watkins, and from our very first consultation, the entire PR process was explained clearly and in detail. We were provided with a comprehensive checklist that made it easy to understand exactly what documents were required, which helped us stay organized and confident throughout.   I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Battista Immigration Law Group. I approached the firm seeking guidance regarding Canada’s newly launched PR pathway for scientists and professors. Given the complexity and novelty of the stream, I expected professional, timely, and informed legal advice, especially considering the consultation fee was approximately $400 + tax for a one-hour session. Immediately after the initial phone call with one of the partner lawyers, I transferred all the requested documents and information without delay. Unfortunately, the consultation itself was far from helpful. Most of the answers provided during the meeting were superficial and largely repeated information already publicly available online through IRCC sources. Rather than clarifying the confusion surrounding this newly introduced immigration stream, the consultation added very little value. One of my most important questions was whether my combination of part-time and full-time work experience would make me eligible under this pathway. During the consultation, I was specifically told that the firm would review my case further and get back to me within 24 hours with a proper assessment. That never happened. I waited more than a week with absolutely no response. It ultimately took approximately nine days for anyone to get back to me. During this period, I made several follow-up calls because the timeline was extremely important for my application planning. Instead of receiving professional communication or updates, I was repeatedly met with dismissive responses and poor client service. What was especially shocking was being casually told that there were “other cases that were much more important.” This is completely unacceptable behavior toward a paying client. A paying client is a paying client, regardless of the size or perceived importance of their case. If a law firm commits to a timeline, they should respect it professionally. There was also no accountability for the delay. Even after I raised concerns with the senior partner lawyer, who later contacted me while the original partner lawyer was on vacation, there was no meaningful attempt to resolve the issue appropriately. To make matters worse, after keeping me waiting for nine days, the firm then asked whether I would still like to continue with them and offered a “discount” on future application fees as compensation. Frankly, this felt highly unprofessional and inadequate considering the circumstances. For a firm with such a strong public reputation and numerous five-star reviews, I genuinely expected a much higher standard of professionalism, communication, responsiveness, and client care. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite.

  I honestly don’t even know where to begin. If you’re searching for a seasoned, knowledgeable, and genuinely empathetic immigration representative, Battista is the law firm you want in your corner. We had the privilege of working with Joycna Kang, to respond to a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL) from IRCc regarding our permanent residency application, and she was nothing short of exceptional. Her attention to detail, her thoroughness, and commitment to our case were beyond anything we could have hoped for. She caught every little detail we missed and guided us with so much care and professionalism.
