Unlike platforms that highlight law firms, LawZen is built around the professional experiences and services of individual lawyers. Your information is visible to those seeking legal help, allowing you to present your practice areas, contact details and background directly to potential clients.
If you are a practising lawyer in Canada, you can claim your profile at no cost. All that is needed to start is an account registration and verification of your email address. Once your account is set up, you can submit a claim on your individual listing and begin the process of establishing ownership of your profile.
A LawZen listing gives you control over the way you are represented online. From updating your biography and practice areas to managing enquiries and analytics, the platform is designed to help you connect with the public and showcase your professional details in a straightforward way.
How claiming works, step by step
Six steps, and you can stop after any of them and pick it up later. Nothing in this flow grants ownership on its own: the LawZen Team checks your badge and approves ownership separately.
Step 01
Register Your Free Account
Visit lawzen.ca and sign up for a new account using your email address. After registration, you’ll receive a verification email to confirm your identity. This step is required before you can claim or edit your profile.
Step 02
Find and Claim Your Listing
Search for your existing individual profile on LawZen. If you locate your listing, you can submit a claim directly from that page. If you do not find your profile, there is an option to request its creation or correction.
Step 03
Confirm Your Business Email (Optional)
You may choose to verify a business email address on your law firm’s domain. This adds a note of 'Business email verified' to your profile. It does not replace the manual ownership approval process or act as verification of professional credentials.
Step 04
Install a LawZen Badge on Your Website
Select one of three official LawZen badges and add the provided embed code to your law firm or personal website. Report the specific URL where the badge appears. You can save your progress and come back later if needed.
Step 05
Await Manual Review and Approval
The LawZen Team will manually review the badge placement on your website and approve your ownership of the profile. Ownership is never granted automatically or by payment, email verification, or self-reporting the badge step.
Step 06
Edit and Manage Your Profile
Once approved, you can edit all aspects of your profile, including your biography, practice areas, contact details, office locations, website, photos and more. You can also respond to moderated reviews from your dashboard.

LawZen is exclusively focused on individual lawyers. Each profile is for one practising lawyer, not law firms or group practices. This means that all visitors see your own qualifications, areas of practice, and contact information, rather than broader firm details.
Firm names and information may be noted within a lawyer’s profile, but there are no separate law firm pages or profiles. This approach allows for a more direct connection between lawyers and those seeking their services, ensuring that all enquiries and interactions are personal and relevant.
If you work as part of a larger firm, you can still include your office locations, business email and website link within your personal profile. However, the focus always remains on your individual professional presence.
Claiming and Verifying Your Profile
To take control of your LawZen listing, start by creating a free account. After registering, you’ll verify your email address and submit a claim on your existing profile. This process ensures that each lawyer’s information is managed by the right person.
You also have the option to confirm a business email address on your firm’s domain, if you wish. This step simply records that your business email has been verified; it does not serve as a claim of professional credentials or replace the ownership approval process.
For those who notice inaccuracies or wish to remove their listing from public view, there is a straightforward request process available. LawZen’s team will review and address these requests promptly.
Installing the LawZen Badge
As part of the ownership approval process, you are asked to choose a LawZen badge and embed it on your official website. You can select from three badge designs and copy the embed code to your site. This step is intended to help confirm your association with the website you list as your own.
Once the badge is installed, you report the exact page URL on your site where the badge appears. You can save your progress at any point and return later to finish the process if needed.
Marking the badge as installed is self-reported and does not grant ownership on its own. The LawZen Team manually checks that the badge is visible on your site before approving your ownership of the profile.
Editing and Managing Your Profile
After ownership is approved by the LawZen Team, you have full access to edit your profile. You can update your photo, write or revise your biography, list your practice areas, add languages spoken, and specify all office locations and contact details.
A website link, gallery images and other media can be added to help present your practice in a more comprehensive way. All edits are made through your LawZen dashboard, allowing you to keep your profile current and relevant.
You can also respond to moderated reviews from your dashboard once ownership is active.
Reviews and Moderation
LawZen displays two kinds of review information on lawyer profiles: reviews originally posted on Google, and reviews submitted directly through LawZen. Google reviews are imported and shown exactly as they appear on Google. LawZen cannot edit, remove, hide, or change a Google review, regardless of its rating or content.
Reviews submitted directly through LawZen are moderated according to the platform’s guidelines. LawZen does not write, edit, or alter these reviews. Moderation is only used to ensure feedback meets basic standards and is not abusive, spam, or clearly off-topic.
If you receive a LawZen-submitted review that you believe is inappropriate or in violation of the platform’s guidelines, you can flag it for further review by the LawZen Team.
Featured Placement for Lawyers
Paid 12-month placement
LawZen offers a featured placement option for lawyers who want additional visibility in the directory. Featured profiles appear above standard listings on city, province and practice area pages that match your profile. These profiles are labelled as Featured and have a larger presentation, including a contact form at the top.
Featured placement is a paid option with a one-time payment for a twelve-month term, processed securely by card through Stripe. Payment does not grant ownership or automatic placement; the LawZen Team must still approve your featured status once all requirements are met.
Ordering among featured lawyers is based on existing review data, not on payment date. At the end of twelve months, the featured placement concludes, but your profile remains visible and you retain full editing access.
