LawZen compiles its directory of individual lawyers from publicly available data sources, including law society registries and professional publications. This initial information is used to create unclaimed listings. While LawZen strives to ensure information is current and accurate, errors or outdated details may occur. Lawyers may claim and update their profiles, and the LawZen Team performs a review before granting ownership status; however, LawZen cannot guarantee the complete accuracy or completeness of any profile at any time.

LawZen is not responsible for verifying the legal credentials, licensure status, or professional standing of any lawyer listed on the site. All users are responsible for independently confirming the qualifications and current standing of any lawyer before engaging them, and for verifying time-sensitive information such as current practice areas, languages, office location, and contact details. To report an inaccurate or outdated listing, please use the contact page.

Listing a lawyer on LawZen does not imply LawZen’s endorsement, recommendation, or assessment of the lawyer’s qualifications, competence, character, or the quality of professional services provided. LawZen does not rank, rate, or compare lawyers in standard search results based on law firm, specialization, experience, or client outcomes. The directory includes all profiles according to available and claimed status, but LawZen makes no statements regarding who may be best suited for your particular needs.

LawZen does not assign ratings, rankings, badges, or awards of any nature to lawyers. Users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence and making their own selection based on independent assessment and direct communication with lawyers.

The only paid product available on LawZen is a Featured profile placement. Featured profiles are clearly labelled with a 'Featured' mark and appear above standard search results on relevant directory pages. They are never auto-renewed and are available for a minimum twelve-month term. Featured status is available to individual lawyers only upon application and review; paying for Featured placement, claiming or verifying a profile, or installing a badge does not grant profile ownership.

Featured placement increases the visibility of a lawyer’s profile in the directory but does not indicate, nor should it be construed as, LawZen’s endorsement, preference, or verification of the lawyer’s qualifications, abilities, or performance. Being Featured does not affect the way standard search results are generated or ordered. Listings labelled as Claimed, Verified, or Featured reflect only those particular steps in profile management and do not reflect LawZen’s recommendation or assessment.

LawZen features two types of reviews on lawyer profiles. First, Google reviews are displayed as they appear on Google and LawZen cannot modify, hide, or remove them, regardless of content or score. Second, LawZen allows users to submit reviews through its own platform. Such LawZen-submitted reviews are published only after moderation to screen for abusive language, spam, or clearly off-topic content. LawZen does not write, invent, or curate reviews, credentials, awards, or verification.

Reviews displayed on LawZen are individual opinions provided by third parties and do not reflect the opinion of LawZen, the LawZen Team, or its partners. Listings may also reflect a Google rating using Google's own methodology and statistics, for which LawZen is not responsible. Users should not make hiring decisions solely based on reviews or ratings, and are encouraged to contact lawyers directly and conduct their own evaluation. Complaints about reviews that violate LawZen's review policy may be reported using the contact page.

LawZen may provide links to third-party websites, including lawyer sites, law societies, review platforms, and government sources for the convenience of users. These external sites operate independently and LawZen has no control over their availability, content, accuracy, privacy practices, or security. Linking to an external site does not constitute an endorsement by LawZen. Users access such sites at their own risk and are responsible for reviewing and complying with the terms, policies, and disclaimers of those third-party entities.

LawZen assumes no responsibility for any loss or harm that may result from visiting or using any third-party website or online service linked to or from LawZen.

LawZen serves as a Canada-wide directory, featuring lawyers from all thirteen provinces and territories. Legal regulation, licensing, practice restrictions, and permitted services vary by jurisdiction. Admission to practise law, types of lawful practice, and professional obligations are governed by the local law society or regulatory body for each province or territory. Not all lawyers listed may be licensed or in good standing in every jurisdiction; they may have practice limitations or specific areas of authorized service.

It is the user's responsibility to verify the licensing status and practice eligibility of any lawyer for the type of service and in the location required. LawZen does not undertake to confirm current licensure or to notify users of changes. In most provinces and territories, law societies maintain public registries for current status. Users are encouraged to verify credentials using official channels before retaining services.

LawZen provides the directory and all associated site content on an "as is" and "as available" basis. LawZen, the LawZen Team, its contractors, suppliers, and affiliates expressly disclaim all warranties, representations, and conditions of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Neither LawZen nor its team shall be responsible or liable for any loss, injury, claim, liability, or damages of any kind arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the website, its features, listings, or external links.

LawZen does not guarantee the privacy or security of unencrypted electronic communication.

Lawyers in Canada are regulated by provincial and territorial law societies, each with its own standards for licensing, conduct, and discipline. LawZen has no role in professional regulation, screening, or discipline. Concerns regarding a lawyer’s ethical conduct, licensing status, or quality of service should be directed to the appropriate law society or regulator in the lawyer’s jurisdiction. Law societies provide official complaint mechanisms and can confirm the standing of their members. Links to law societies may be provided for convenience only; LawZen does not process or mediate complaints against lawyers.

If you believe any information in a LawZen listing is inaccurate, outdated, or misleading, you are encouraged to notify the LawZen Team so that it may be reviewed and corrected as needed. Reports may include changes to lawyer name, contact information, practice status, misattributed reviews, or other factual inaccuracies. LawZen investigates reported issues with the goal of maintaining up-to-date information, but cannot guarantee the immediate removal or update of content.
