  Our experience with Orcus Law raised serious concerns regarding communication, transparency, billing, and trust funds. During our retainer, we discovered discrepancies that led us to question the handling of funds held in trust on our behalf. When we raised those concerns and requested explanations, supporting documentation, and clarification regarding transactions affecting our trust balance, we were not satisfied with the responses we received. We also experienced multiple lawyer departures, ongoing communication issues, and repeated difficulties obtaining answers to basic questions such as who was responsible for our file, who remained employed at the firm, and who was supervising our matter. After repeatedly requesting clarification regarding our file and the individuals responsible for it, we received a disengagement letter rather than answers to many of our outstanding questions. (which by the way is against law society rules, we believe the law society will deal with that for us on top of other issues we already raised with them.) We have preserved invoices, trust records, correspondence, videos, and other documentation relating to our concerns. If you are considering retaining this firm, we strongly recommend that you carefully monitor your trust balances, review every invoice, request detailed explanations for ALL charges and trust transactions, and keep copies of all communications. Based on our experience, including concerns regarding missing trust funds and unexplained transactions affecting our trust account, we would not recommend this firm. We have filed formal complaints with the Law Society of Ontario and are pursuing all available remedies… If you have had similar experiences or concerns regarding your own matter, we encourage you to document everything, preserve your records, and report your concerns through the appropriate regulatory channels… the law society of Ontario!   I retained Orcus Law expecting competent legal representation, clear communication, and transparency regarding the management of my case. Unfortunately, my experience fell well short of those expectations. From the beginning, obtaining straightforward information about my matter became an ongoing challenge. Questions regarding billing, trust funds, file management, and case strategy often required repeated follow-ups, and even then I was frequently left without clear or complete answers. Instead of feeling informed and supported as a client, I felt I was constantly trying to determine what was happening with my own case. One of the most frustrating aspects of my experience was the lack of consistency. Responsibility for my file appeared to shift over time, making it difficult to know who was handling key decisions or who could provide accurate information. This created unnecessary confusion and significantly undermined my confidence in the firm’s management of my matter. As my concerns grew, I sought independent opinions from other legal professionals regarding the handling of my case. Those discussions raised additional questions for me about certain decisions that had been made and whether important legal avenues had been pursued in a timely manner. Legal advice I have since been given by new counsel has caused me to believe Ms Kapoor’s actions have severely damaged our case. I also became concerned about transactions and charges involving funds held in trust on my behalf. When I requested explanations and supporting information, I did not receive the level of transparency I believe clients should reasonably expect when their money is being managed by a law firm. What ultimately disappointed me most was not simply the concerns themselves, but the apparent unwillingness to address them directly. Rather than receiving satisfactory answers to many of the issues I raised, I was left with unresolved questions and a loss of confidence in the representation I had received. I have maintained detailed records relating to my file, including correspondence, invoices, and trust account documentation. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering this firm to carefully review all billing, retain copies of every communication, and promptly request clarification regarding any charge, transaction, or decision they do not fully understand. My experience was deeply disappointing, and I would not retain this firm again.

  Not sure I would be able to recommend this firm. They were over 20 minutes late to the meeting - more or less unprepared and provided very amateur advice pertaining to my situation. No case law or clear path forward. Not even a written consult. What irked me the most is that I have now asked for an invoice for my tax records 5+ times. Via phone calls, emails, etc. Just no follow through. It’s been 3 months. Updating this to share that their receptionist proceeded to call me “honey” and when I asked her respectfully not to do so, to send me my invoice, she hung up on me. Unprofessional, scammy and rather concerning that they are in the law business. Do not recommend you to waste your money or time here. Just look at the photos on their website and you’ll know what kind of service you’re signing up for. Stay away.
