Don't normally do things like this but had to let my frustration out regarding one of the Partners at Collett Read LLP The handful of times I have spoken to Dean on the phone, he has been incredibly rude and disrespectful given my situation. Frankly, I get the feeling he did not or does not believe me regarding my claims of severe abuse at the hands of my ex partner. The 2nd time I spoke to him on the phone was back in February after I had already sent him $5K. He: Alluded to me sounding unhinged in the recording that was provided by the person whom I said had been abusing me. Told me I had not actually been abused. When I pushed back on this and told him SOME of the ways I'd been abused, he claimed that those weren't forms of abuse. He then got upset with me and said something along the lines of "Kevin I will NOT be spoken to this way!" when I expressed my frustration that the crown was pursuing this over a can of ginger ale 3rd phone call: He denied having said the above things Admitted to doing the above things after remembering he did them but tried to excuse it away saying I had not paid you by the time that phone call happened (this is a straight up lie, I have my receipts) Again told me "Kevin I will NOT be spoken to this way!" When I mentioned that I noticed he was getting upset, suggested he may want to speak to someone regarding his anger (almost a direct quote from him to me the last we spoke) and that for my own safety would be recording the call, he abruptly ended it. Dean I'd highly suggest starting therapy. Based on other Google reviews you seem to fly off the handle often, and the way you spoke was incredibly disrespectful. Please think about how your actions have an affect on others.

I cannot say enough positive things about Jessica Read and the incredible job she did representing me during my case. One of the most important things I learned through this experience is to trust the process. Jessica conducted extensive research and a thorough analysis of all the video evidence, picking up on details I would have never noticed myself. Her ability to break things down and build a strong, strategic defense was truly impressive. In the courtroom, her talent really stood out. Her skill in handling and cross-examining witnesses was exceptional! She was calm, precise, and highly effective. Beyond that, she has a natural likability and presence that seemed to resonate with everyone involved, including the Crown and the judge. Our family will always be grateful for the incredible defense and dedication shown in this case. From the very beginning, Jessica Read treated our loved one with respect, dignity, and genuine care during the second most stressful time our family has ever faced. Jessica and her team with the knowledge of the law, attention to detail, and powerful courtroom advocacy truly made the difference for an innocent man. From false accusations, to prepping myself as an eye witness and keeping me stable and humble (mostly) during being on the stand, I can not even explain the words. Jessica and team are wonderful. Jessica, Jordan and team fought tirelessly and never gave up, and because of their hard work the case was successfully dismissed after almost 3 years. Throughout the entire process Jessica and Jordan kept our family informed, reassured us when we were worried, and stood strong when it mattered most. TOP LAW FIRM in Hamilton. When mentioned I was being represented by Collett Read LLP, the elicited response was usually along the lines of "They'll take good care of you!" And they did!! My initial consultation was with Dean Collett. He promised me nothing. But, his confident cadence and careful consideration of the details I provided gave me a sense of security at a time when I was at a record low. He has a strong sense of where the members of his team are most effective, and I could hear his eyes light up over the phone as he spoke highly of each and every one of them; the markings of a true leader. I went with Jessica Read, a Partner Lawyer of the firm. It's important to note that Jessica started as a Crown Attorney, which gives her a certain edge (e.g. an intricate understanding of how the Prosecutors think and concise knowledge of how the written law is interpreted by the officers of the court). It's also important to note that Dean and Jessica built this firm together, and train the entire office to advocate for their clients to the fullest extent. I was prepared to fight my case tooth and nail, but didn't have to thanks to Jessica Read. I feel very lucky she acted with a high code of ethics, including the following: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Justice, Competence, and Stewardship. A BIG SHOUT OUT to Dean Collett, Jessica Read, Alyce Wilson, Adara Giancola, and the entire Collett Read Team.
